Stocks ended lower on Monday as investors waited to hear from Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell on Wednesday.
US stocks opened mixed today. The Dow hit 47,939.87. The S&P 500 inched to 6,853.95. The Nasdaq slipped to 23,498.96. Markets wait for a likely Fed rate cut with 89% odds. Nvidia, Tesla, Broadcom and CVS move early.
The day started on a positive note, but soon turned red, with only the Nasdaq of the three major indices showing a slight upward trend on Tuesday. The S&P 500 regained some of its losses in the day, but still closed 0.
The stock market was falling Monday to start December after the late November rally. Bitcoin was falling again, while silver surged to a record high.
The Nasdaq Composite Index joined the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 in the red in early trading on Monday as a handful of Big Tech stocks saw early gains evaporate. The Nasdaq was off by 24 points,

Inside the blue chip index, Apple AAPL and Walmart WMT notched modest gains in premarket trading. Apple shares looked to snap a four-day winning streak, while Walmart stock is in buying range above a 109.58 buy point.
